"In art and in music I am ever more drawn to the understated, the subtle, the poignant. I want to be humbled, perhaps to be reminded of my isolation and mortality.

In my new collection of still life, my intention is to capture the essence of things, their nakedness, to consider the bare bones, stripped of superficiality. There is, therefore, greater simplicity in shape and colour. The muted palette enhances the stillness and quietness of the images. The plain backgrounds for me emphasise the grace and beauty of the forms."
